This is the fifth part of the rich collection of metal videos from the Nuclear Blast and this time you’ll get to see 66 bands in 260 minutes. Many of these bands haven’t signed for Nuclear Blast, so the whole job seems to have taken shape in a kind of complicated way. The extreme music era has cought the creator’s attention, a fact that lends credit to the current general run of the music market.
Holy monsters like Amorphis, Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy, U.D.O., Doro, Armored Saint, Mercyful Fate, Fates Warning, Exodus, Sacred Reich, Destruction, Impaled Nazarene, Nevermore and up-and-coming new unholy creatures like Mastodon, Shadows Fall, Heaven Shall Burn and God Forbid threaten your TV screen with old and new videos, some of them recorded live. The quality of sound and picture is perfect and the choice of the songs is mostly quite representative.
I consider as the absolute highlights the following: Darkthrone’s “Too Old Too Cold”, because they uphold the tradition that they started with the filthy image and the filthy sound, Immortal’s “Blashyrkh”, because nobody forgot about it after eleven years, the supermodern and subversive “Mean Streets” of the old wolf, U.D.O., and the contenders of the title of the most “Unrepentant Funny Guys”, who are no others than Tankard, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter and Knorkator. Instead of the censored and consequently defective version of the Dimmu Borgir’s “Sorgens Kammer Del II”, I prefare the original version or some other video.
